With an awareness of key naturopathic principals combined with two decades working in various demanding corporate roles, I understand how challenging it can be to juggle life and still eat in a balanced way. I have a keen intuition with my clients and can comfortably relay complex information in a straightforward way, meeting my clients where they are at on their journey so that they feel at ease and fully guided through their diet and lifestyle changes. At the heart of my practice I deeply believe that the human body is designed to function without limitation and given the optimal environment the body can return to a state of balance known as homeostasis.
I draw upon the principals of Functional Medicine; a systems biology–based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. Each symptom may be one of many contributing to a person’s illness. By addressing the root cause with the appropriate nutrients and lifestyle changes the body is helped back into balance and able to function optimally.
What can I expect from working with Genna?
I incorporate a unique approach that’s woven through each consultation:
Research and analysis: understand what’s present in your life that’s contributing to your symptoms.
Education: share research and functional medicine principals that illustrate the ways in which your diet and lifestyle choices are limiting your wellness experience.
Accountably: hold you accountable to what you say you want to achieve. I will support you to implement new diet and lifestyle habits into your daily routine by working with you to create a wellness plan that’s unique to you and your lifestyle*
Empowerment: answer your questions, understand what worked for you and celebrate your successes. I will also help you to understand what barriers are in your way and the ways you can work around them.
*It’s crucial to our working relationship that you understand that the responsibility for your success sits firmly with you. I am guided by you; you know your body better than anyone! My role is to understand where you want to go and help you get there, not to tell you what to do. If you are looking to be “fixed” or told what to do then I am not the practitioner for you but if you want to drop deeper into your own intuition and discover what you’re truly capable of then we are most definitely on the same page.
Before we meet, you will complete a health history questionnaire and five-day diet diary. From the information you share, I begin to build a holistic picture of what may be contributing to your symptoms by drawing on the principals of functional medicine.
First consultation (allow 90minutes)
We will meet in one of my clinic locations or if geography is a barrier we can easily set up a phone call over FaceTime or Zoom/Skype, there really are no limits!
We will work through your goals ie what is it that you really want to achieve? You’ll leave the first consultation with a clearer understanding of what might be contributing to your symptoms; what alterations need to be made to your diet and lifestyle; a strategy of how to go about making changes that are in line with your lifestyle and a clear plan to follow that keeps you on track towards your goals. You may also like to consider key supplements to support your wellness goals which we will discuss during this consultation.
Follow-up consultation (allow 60 minutes)
The follow-up session typically takes place 4-6 weeks after the initial consultation. This session is a space for you to share how you feel you are progressing through your wellness strategy ie are you moving closer to your goal or are there obstacles and barriers in the way? Review, edit and off you go!
I have various ways of working for different budgets. Have a look at the packages page to find out more.
